BMW confirms Partnership with Mission Impossible Franchise.

BMW confirmed today its role as exclusive worldwide automotive partner of the next installment of Paramount Pictures’ legendary action film franchise, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”, in theaters from July 31. This is the second time BMW has “accepted the mission” to lend its superior technological support to the film’s production crew, enabling it to deliver breathtaking automotive stunt scenes shot around the globe. BMW previously partnered with Paramount on the 2011 successful release of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”.

The film’s official trailer, released worldwide yesterday, offers fans a first glimpse of the high-adrenaline action that only Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his Impossible Mission Force (IMF) team can deliver – including spectacular driving scenes where the new BMW M3 is put through its paces. The fifth generation M3 sports car the perfect choice to perform precision driving sequences while the BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR, which is also seen in the film trailer released yesterday, represents the ultimate performance on two wheels.

BMW ConnectedDrive, which offers uniquely intelligent connectivity between driver, car and environment, was always on hand for the IMF team as they traveled around the globe.

“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” reunites Tom Cruise with “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames. The film also stars Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson and Sean Harris.

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions present a Tom Cruise / Bad Robot production. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and produced by Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk. The executive producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger of Skydance Productions and Jake Myers. Drew Pearce, Christopher McQuarrie, Will Staples, Laeta Kalogridis & Patrick Lussier and Dylan Kussman wrote the screenplay, based on the television series created by Bruce Geller.

Sieya Motorsport is partnering with DriveTeq again for 2014.  Our partnership has been successful in training Novice and Intermediate drivers at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP/Mosport).  The training includes classroom sessions introducing the fundamentals of high performance driving, car control skill training exercises, in-car on-track coaching and limited passing zones.  Advanced drivers will share the track with other competent and like-minded drivers under open passing with a signal rules.  Lots of track time.

BMW Group Technology Office and GoPro Create First Automotive Sports Camera Integration

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 12, 2014 11:30AM EDT / 8:30AM PDT . . . The BMW Group Technology Office and GoPro have announced the first-ever, mass-produced integration of a GoPro camera with an automobile’s on board infotainment system. In BMW Group vehicles equipped with the BMW Apps or MINI Connected option, a GoPro camera may now be configured and controlled using BMW’s state-of-the-art iDrive controller and high-resolution screen. Starting in July 2014, the integration will be functional on all model year 2012 and later BMW Group vehicles equipped with the BMW Apps or MINI Connected option, when used with a Wi-Fi-equipped GoPro camera. The updated GoPro App is now available for free in the iTunes Store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gopro-app/id561350520).

This groundbreaking integration is designed specifically to reduce driver distraction and enhance the capabilities for which “The Ultimate Driving Machine®” and GoPro, one of the world’s most versatile cameras, are famous. In addition to aiming the camera using BMW’s large central screen, users may quickly choose between six pre-set camera modes: Leisure Drive Facing Out, Night Driving, Sport Drive Facing Out, Drive Camera Facing In, Winding Road Time-lapse, and Straight Road Time-lapse. The camera’s RECORD function may be started and stopped by the driver at will, and vital camera status indicators are displayed, including recording elapsed time, battery life, and Wi-Fi signal strength. The user may also toggle the camera’s SLEEP mode to prolong battery life between shots.

How it works.

First, the user’s BMW or MINI vehicle must be equipped with the BMW Apps or MINI Connected option, respectively. Next, the user’s Wi-Fi-equipped GoPro camera (HERO3+ and later) communicates with the GoPro App installed on the driver’s iPhone 4 or later, which must be connected to the vehicle either through the iPhone USB cable or the BMW Accessory snap-in adaptor for iPhone. The driver will access the App through the BMW ConnectedDrive or MINI Connected menu, which is displayed on the large, trans-reflective central screen (up to 10.2 inches, depending on model).

The BMW Group Technology Office and GoPro designed the on-board operating menu to streamline the camera’s operation and take full advantage of the integrated environment. Menu choices appear to the left of the screen, and the camera’s actual field of view is displayed in near real-time while the vehicle is stationary.

BMW M3 Sedan

While not the main attraction at the BMW stand in Geneva, the 2014 BMW M3 Sedan still captures the attention of passing-by visitors. The F80 M3 Sedan goes on sale this summer along with the M4 Coupe and brings a full refresh to the current M lineup.

The display model sports the Yas Marina Blue paint job which is also available for the M4 Coupe. The M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe can be ordered in Alpine White, Sakhir Orange, Black Sapphire, Silverstone, Mineral White, Mineral Grey, Austin Yellow and Yas Marina.

 

While the M4 stands out with its sleek design and highly attractive roofline, the F80 M3 is shaping up to be one of the best looking and balanced-designs in the current BMW lineup. While the previous E90 M3 sold in less quantities than the E92 M3 Coupe, this time around, the odds might be in sedan’s favor. The F80 M3 stands out with its rear-end and the purposeful rear wheel arches.

 

Since it starts on a smaller track (the F30), the F80 M3 has a width of 1877 mm versus 1870 mm for the M4, and furthermore, the rear-end features a wider bodykit to bring it to the same dimensions as the M4.

 

The F80 2015 BMW M3 Sedan will cost $62,000 and 2015 BMW M4 has a base price $64,200. Destination and handling is $925. The European Delivery price for the M3 sedan is $57,710 and M4 starts at $59,755.

 

The new engine in the M3 and M4 (S55 3.0 liter turbo) sees a slight power upgrade over the previous V8 to approximately 430 hp, while peak torque has been increased by well over 30 per cent to substantially more than 500 Newton meters, and is maintained over a very wide rev band. The new powerplant also boasts excellent fuel consumption, with an improvement of more than 25 per cent over the previous model’s figures, while emissions are already EU6-compliant.
